2007 ABRA World Champion Dr. Layne Spitzenberger and CLR Chocolate Bentley.

Congratulations to 2007 NRCHA Hall of Fame inductee, Kenny Pugh,Sr. Kenny, already a World Champion and Reserve World Champion, has trained horses for Circle Lake Ranch for several years, including one of the highest selling High Brow Cat sons, CLR Storm Cat. We always knew this quiet, serious and humble man was special. Kenny will be producing a reined cowhorse video with our videography company, Pony Productions, for release in 2008 and will be periodically overseeing our Reined Cowhorse Show Team. He also is the trainer for CLR Boomtown Gold aka "Dunnie". Congratulations, Kenny. You are my Elvis.

Sally Bligh, our dear friend and Arabian Reserve National Champion Reined Cowhorse rider, is battling m.s. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Ride, Sally, Ride!

SHESA TARIS CATALYST: World Champion in 4 Events: Limited Open Futurity, Derby (twice 4 and 5 year old years) and Hackamore Champion. She will be bred in 2009 to Carol Rose's World Champion horse Shining Spark. She is $3000 short of being a NRCHA Supreme Reined Cowhorse and will be campaigned after foaling to achieve this prestigious award.

October 2007: Congratulations to Kristin Farris on her purchase of Sally Bligh's California reined cow horse, Nikki. Kristin flew to Reno and tried her during the NRCHA Futurity and fell in love.

October 2007: Our Andalusians are off to the Nationals! Best of luck to Robert and Kathryn as they show Lady and Laura in Fort Worth. They have made great strides this year and we look for some excellent placings!

CLR Chica Rica update: Born at Circle Lake Ranch (above) the pretty bay roan American Quarter Horse has over a year of cutting training and is coming along very well. Pictured is our cutting trainer Hans Buth schooling her on cattle. Chica and Hans will compete in the Millionheir Classic in 2009 in Las Vegas.

Stock Horse of Texas Contestants September 2007. The girls had a great show. Huge smiles on their faces all the way home. Special Note was Tara Power placing second in cattle class out of 23, Alycin Black placing 6th in Reining out of 23, and Layne placing 5th overall right behind B.F. Yeates in the open out of 21. A great meal that evening at Free Bird's in College Station added to the happy day.

Layne's new hunt seat horse - "Bentley" is already 15.2hh and has just turned 2 years old!
He is a big boy and very very flat-kneed. He will be shown in 2 year old Lunge Line at Buckskin World in 3 weeks.

Congratulations to Rachael Bradshaw who will star on "Nashville" a new reality television series developed by Fox that will follow young country music star hopefuls as they pursue their music careers. Rachael is the daughter of NFL Legend Terry Bradshaw and Charla Connor, a longtime dear friend.

American Riding Instructor's Association Convention: While we attended this convention we could not believe that yet ANOTHER force five hurricane was headed directly toward us. Despite it all we had a great time and learned many new things about ranch and lesson management.

10/08/05 WINNIN AGAIN....
Congratulations to Layne's Assistant, Meg Gillespie. This upbeat high school student beat LOCAL TRAINERS in her GHHJA show this weekend for a first place. We are proud of you, Meg!

09/26/05 HURRICANE RITA & BROOKE
Brooke was found in Orange grazing peacefully with another horse. The barn and huge oaks all around them were completely destroyed. Brooke was in good health and not harmed. We are so thankful.

HURRICANE RITA
After much preparation and deliberation as to evacuate or not, the hurricane passed us with absolutely no incidents and very little rain.
We do worry right now for Krissy and Brooke...
Brooke was in a field in Orange as the strong winds passed her and we are waiting right now to know if she is OK and if she needs to be picked up.

TOP FIVE IN THE WORLD
We are so happy to let everyone know that Dr. Layne Spitzenberger & CLR Son Ofa Dun (E.T.) placed 3rd, 5th and 5th at the World Championships held in both Tulsa, Oklahoma and Columbia, Missourri. One of the 3 World Judges in Missourri placed us first. You have no idea how unbelievable it felt to walk to the head of the line of all those horses from all over the nation. We will be back in 2006 to try to win the World Title!
